Follow these steps if you are going to be using the NVR connected to your existing network. The easiest setup involves the Device Discovery Tool (DeviceManagerTool.exe) which is available on the included CD under Tool\IP Search Tool\DeviceManagerTool".
Note: This tool is only available for Windows.
Make note of your local network subnet and the available IP addresses you would like to allocate to your IP security system.
Typically your local network subnet is: 192.168.1.XXX. But this can very well differ from one setup to another. Typically, the IP address of your router will be a good indication of what the subnet may be. For example, if you use 10.1.1.1 to access your router, then all the other devices in your network, to be accessible, would have to have an IP of 10.1.1.XXX (where XXX has to be unique to each individual device in the local network).
- Run the command line tool and type: ipconfig /all
Note: In Windows you can hit the Windows+R key and type "cmd" then Enter. - Make note of the following:
- IPv4 Address (In the above example, our local IP subnet is 192.168.168.XXX)
- Subnet Mask
- Default Gateway
- DNS Server
Make sure your NVR and Camera are all hooked up and that the LAN port on the NVR is connected to your local network (existing router/switch etc.)
- On a Windows PC, run the Device Manager tool.
- Make sure you check the (for IP Camera) and check boxes and then click on
- The Device Manager Tool will list all the NVRs and IP cameras it finds regardless of the subnet they are in.
- If you have other NVRs and IP Cameras already connected and setup in the network, the easiest way to find your new NVR and IP camera will be the default IP addresses, as both the NVR and IP cameras will have an IP address of 192.168.1.188.
- Make sure the NVR is highlighted and at the bottom of the screen set the IP address to be on the same subnet as the rest of your devices (For the above example that would be 192.168.168.XXX).
Change the gateway to be the same as the rest of your network too (192.168.168.100 in our example above). - Choose each IP camera and repeat the same process in Step 5. Make sure each IP address assigned to each camera is unique!
- Confirm your changes by clicking on the button again. This will refresh the device list where you can confirm your changes have been applied successfully.
Congratulations! Your NVR and IP Cameras are now all accessible via the local network!
You can now add any IP camera located in the network.
To do this on the NVR itself, right click and choose
. Choose the I8 and I9 check boxes and click .From the list, check all the cameras you would like to add to your NVR and hit
